What does the course teach?
A Careers Crash Course
Yipiyap Aspire: Train to Tutor is an interactive, digital course teaching your students the skills they need to peer tutor, both in-school and privately. Five modules of videos and activities promote discussion, peer learning, and self-reflections, while learners gain key transferable skills that will dazzle jobs and universities.

The Train to Tutor course can be accessed from any laptop or computer, using the online portal. Learners can complete each module together as a group or alone at home.
Each topic is explored through an interactive module, consisting of videos, interactive solo activities, group discussions, quizzes, and reflective tasks.
Former Yipiyap peer tutor Jenn walks participants through each step of the journey. Every video is short and sweet (1-3 minutes), so learners are never passively listening for long.
Learners are prompted to reflect on their competency in each of the core skills: communication, leadership, teamwork, emotional intelligence, and metacognition.
Module 1 is all about introductions - to the course and to yourself! Learners will consider how their individual personality will affect their tutoring style.
Module 2 is all about teaching and learning. Participants explore the concepts of pedagogy and metacognition, supporting both their tutoring and their own future learning.
Modules 2, 3, and 4 end with a quiz, to test participants' knowledge and reinforce learning.
Module 3 explores entrepreneurship - including how businesses and politicians alike position themselves to appeal to their target audience.
Module 4 explores the key professional skills of safeguarding and data protection. Learners are prompted to consider how we know who to trust - and how we can demonstrate that others can trust us.
Module 4 introduces learners to safeguarding and data protection, as well as signposting further resources for those who want to go all the way and tutor on their own.
Solo and group activities prompt learners to reflect on and discuss pedagogy, entrepreneurialism, safeguarding, data protection, and more.
The course culminates in Module 5: The Pitch. In groups, participants will use what they've learned to present their tutoring business and vote on the most convincing.
At the end of the course, learners are prompted to re-appraise their confidence in the core skills - and consider how they can continue to develop them on their own.
