Update #01 - What a team!

Greetings to you all!

We really hope that you all enjoyed the whirlwind that was the Tutor Induction Course and are all now really excited about your start at school next week! I know that your Regional Directors have been hard at it this week making sure you all know where you are going and what to do when you get there! Just make sure that you have a good sleep on Sunday night, your journeys planned, shirts ironed, your lapel pins firmly pinned and pencil cases at the ready. Now it is over to you to make those first great impressions! Most of all remember to SMILE and just be yourselves. You are all brilliant and we know you will be great!

I would now like to formally introduce to the Yipiyap Weekly Update! This is our weekly chance to let you all know what is happening in the land of Yipiyap so that everyone is in the loop with what’s going on.  It is important that you read it as it will often contain key information and reminders and is the main way we exchange news and views.  Just as importantly, reading it will ensure that all of you feel part of this great team throughout your time with us.  Tutors have often fed back how much they look forward to the regular contact with the Yipiyap community and if you ever want to make a contribution to the update, just let me know.

The general format of the update is a little something about what Anne and I have been up to, Pedagogy Corner – the hub for your continuing professional development in the classroom hosted by Richard, our Wall of Happy where we get a chance to shout about something great that’s happened and also our Tutor Top 20, the 20 favorite tunes of each buddy couple (10 each obviously!). News about forthcoming events and useful information will also be posted so it is an essential read. There is also our Yipiyap Mantra at the end. We really hope it has something for everyone and you will really enjoy reading it each week.

Caption Competition

For obvious reasons, we are not going to bombard you with even more information this week so instead we are going to have a little bit of fun. Below is a glimpse of what happened the moment the last tutor left the Induction Day venue on Wednesday!! I would like you all to have a good think and for the person who can come up with the best caption there’s a £20 prize! Get your thinking caps on and get your captions to me by 5pm Wednesday 11th September!! Entries will be judged by the team here at HQ and the results published in next Friday’s update. We can’t wait to hear from you!!!

Other than that, make sure you have a restful weekend ready to go on Monday and have a brilliant first week in school!!! Remember we are here if you need anything!

Good luck and thanks for reading,

Catherine

I will bring positivity into school by greeting everyone with a smile.

I will be proactive, looking for ways to help teachers and students and asking for help if I need it.

I’m a role model and will show children how to conduct themselves.

I will be professional at all times, respect staff and value the responsibilities I am given.

There will be times when I make mistakes but I will never stop learning!
