Update #31 - 24th May

Hello there everyone,

A different weekly update this week as we know you will all just want to be kicking back and starting to enjoy your half term break in the sunshine. Anne and the RDs would not however let the term finish without some last special mentions in the Wall of Happy (see below).

Firstly, a huge well done to you all for a brilliant first half to this summer term. You will be on the last leg of your journey with us when you come back and we really hope you all make the very most of these last few weeks. We can’t wait to see you all at the Fit for Future Day too! It is great to see how many of you are coming along. It’s going to be a great day!

*** Remember timesheets are due today ***

Wall of Happy

This week Alan starts us off with his special mentions

A very last minute highlight for my Wall of Happy this time. I started the week intending to write a big thank you and farewell to Emma whose placement was due to finish today. But I've had some great news from Emma's placement as Rainhill High School have asked to extend their support into the last half term!! I was incredibly pleased to hear this from the head of English and she's been very positive about the work you've been doing and has some interesting projects for you to get stuck into after the break, so enjoy!

Next to Richard

I’d like to say a big thanks to my tutors for the support they have given to school during this busy exam period. I know some tutors have gone above and beyond supporting a large proportion of Y11 students which schools have really appreciated. Have a great half term break!

Now over to Jess

I just wanted to wish Team Manchester a restful half term holiday. It’s mad to think that we’re almost at the end of your Yipiyap journey, although I imagine many of you will come back in one way or the other as is the Yipiyap way! A special mention this week to Maryam who celebrated her birthday on Thursday. All the best!

Now to Anne

Wishing of NPD a fabulous half term break and a particular shout out to Faye who leaves Yipiyap today as her placement supporting GCSE resit students in Norwich has come to an end. Amazing work Faye and we wish you all the very best in your future as a health professional!

Have a great week off, NPD-ers!!

And, finally to Joss

General good feeling this week when thinking about the tutors - few bits and bobs I've really enjoyed. Firstly, a few tutors have been working extra hours here and there either to make up time or to provide additional support - shout out to Zak Gaurav and Krish in particular and of course Jemima who's been going over and above for a while now. We've also had a good response for FFF day particularly from Y&H tutors - well done guys - it just sums up your attitudes all year that so many of you see the value in making the trek across to take part. Great stuff.

Best news this week is a surprise turn of events concerning Eloise who is now not moving house and therefore not leaving Yipiyap! We had a last minute scramble to get things sorted with WHA but I can now say firmly that she's got a position with us until the end of HT6. Thanks, well done, welcome back - all that Jazz!!!!

A couple of important notices…

We are going to do a little reminder section when we get back to business after half term but there are two little things I would be grateful for you to note. Firstly, please make sure all of your social media is set to private to ensure you do not have any students trying to contact you in this last half term. Secondly, I know it is getting towards the end of your time with us but please ensure that you wear your Yipiyap lapel pins at all times in school. They are an important part of your identity at school right up until the last day!

Ben and Liv’s Top 20 Tunes

To play us out for this half term it is Liv and Ben, Jess’s most recent recruits who are doing a sterling job at Lostock (and St Matthews for Liv too!). There’s a real eclectic mix of tunes here for you to all kick back and start your half term with here. Thank you both for sending them through to me!!! Enjoy!

Have a fantastic half term break everyone!

From Anne, Catherine, Richard, Alan, Jess, Joss, Halyna and Hannah

I will bring positivity into school by greeting everyone with a smile.

I will be proactive, looking for ways to help teachers and students and asking for help if I need it.

I’m a role model and will show children how to conduct themselves.

I will be professional at all times, respect staff and value the responsibilities I am given.

There will be times when I make mistakes but I will never stop learning!
