Update #14 - 4th January

Hello everyone!

Happy New Year!!!

I hope you have had a great holiday and for those of you who are back in this week that you have had a great week in school, albeit a short one!

Can you believe you are over a third of your way through your term with Yipiyap? You will find that the next two terms absolutely fly by so just make sure you make the most of your time at school and all of the opportunities we will be offering you over the next few months. There’s lots kicking off at Yipiyap on the fun front in January so no time no one should have the January blues!!!

Here’s a little reminder of what is to come over the next month…

Joke of the Day

Brace yourself for Anne’s Joke of the Day! It’s the way she tells ‘em!! They certainly puts a smile on my daughter’s face on the way to school! She loves sharing them with her friends so you might like to share them with your students too!

How better to burn off the turkey and get yourself match fit than a bit of skipping in January! If you are hoping to take part in our January Skipiyap Challenge 2019 now is the time to dust off your old skipping rope or if you haven’t got one, ask your RD for one. You will need to complete a health screening form for our Health and Safety requirments but these are very basic forms so should not stop anyone taking part. Just ask your RD for a form before you do your turn!!! Remember it’s as many skips as you can do in 1 minute or a funny / quirky video of you skipping! Just send your films though to us once you have made them. Can’t wait to see if last year’s record jumps and laughs can be beaten! Good luck!!!

Much the same as Skipiyap this challenge runs through January and we invite you to produce a picture/ piece of art in whatever medium you choose. The topic is quite simply ‘inspiration’. The only limitation to your entry is that it needs to be in a format that can be easily posted to our offices, so perhaps an A4 sized picture or item that can be easily packaged and posted. We will cover your reasonable postage costs. YipiArt will run right the way through January so plenty of time to get your entries in. Winners will again be announced at the end of the month!

Yipiyap 10k 2019 - Beat the Boss!

And if that’s not quite enough fun for this term- now’s the time to start your 10k training for our 10k runs at the end of this term!!!!! I have heard on the grapevine that Anne has started her training campaign already so if you want to BEAT THE BOSS here’s your chance!!!! Don’t take this challenge lightly- Anne is fiercely competitive and will be looking to improve her time this year. We will be sending you a training schedule and details for the runs over the next few weeks but don’t let that stop you putting on your trainers and getting out there!

Run to Donate - Charity Miles

I have come across this app and thought it was a very interesting, worthwhile and relevant one to share with you all given the potential training some of you will be doing for the 10k. Charity Miles works by app users choosing a charity from 39 international different options such as the WWF. The app then tracks the distance you run/ walk and donates a certain amount of money from corporate sponsors per mile you complete. It’s a free app but the only catch is that the user must share his/ her activity on social media either Twitter or Facebook. You are all social media savvy and since you are all doing the miles anyway, what a great way to donate to charity!

On that note, enjoy your weekends and see you all back next week!

I will bring positivity into school by greeting everyone with a smile.

I will be proactive, looking for ways to help teachers and students and asking for help if I need it.

I’m a role model and will show children how to conduct themselves.

I will be professional at all times, respect staff and value the responsibilities I am given.

There will be times when I make mistakes but I will never stop learning!
